Since January 1, 2019, Roger has carried on the practice of J. Allen Howard following Mr. Howard’s retirement after 48 years of legal practice. The office continues that tradition of personal, community-based service while bringing a distinct cross-border perspective.

Song v. Law Society of Alberta
On October 2, 2026, Yue (Roger) Song filed his appellant’s factum with the Court of Appeal of Alberta in his appeal from the dismissal of his constitutional challenge to the Law Society of Alberta. He seeks a new hearing before a different judge. The factum presents his arguments about the regulator’s statutory authority, the independence of lawyers, the exclusion of evidence and Charter freedoms. These are the appellant’s submissions; the Court has not yet decided the appeal.
